The chair and the open desk drawer suggest the participational potential of the piece. Inside the drawer on the left are Homies (short for homeboys) a novelty item from contemporary Latino pop culture sold in grocery store vending machines. Next to these is a child’s edition of Pilgrim’s Progress, a Christian allegory written by John Bunyan in 1678. On the far right side are items, such as cacti, cairns, and skeletal remains, that represent timeless natural elements of the Central to North American migration.
