Christine Oatman

This corner installation consists of a blackboard on which is written "The Chimney Sweeper" by 18th century English poet William Blake. The poem is written in the same script as the Shakespeare quote above. Two white pedestals below the blackboard support the altered book, Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss. A life-size, 2-dimensional figure of a 1950’s girl stands on a collapsing pile of Dr. Seuss books and appears to be in the process of erasing the script within the silhouettes of three figures drawn on the blackboard.
