The book that inspired the piece, I Wish I Were a Fireman, is the only children’s book in the exhibition that was not altered; instead two copies of the book were joined so what was printed on the back can be seen from the front.
(Pages 1-3.) Cover of I Wish I Were a Fireman depicting heroic child-fireman rescuing adoring girl in green dress with blonde pigtails tied with green bows. First two pages of book follow with horizontal accordion fold-out format reiterating the vertical collapsing format of the South Tower in the background.
